Mission

Throughout the 14 years of its existence, CETINIA has been producing, applying, innovating, and disseminating knowledge in Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology (Intelligent Information Technologies, IIT), in order to consolidate and enhance visibility and academic prestige of University Rey Juan Carlos both nationally and internationally. The Centre counts on a multinational and interdisciplinary team of researchers and technologists that allows it to successfully undertake the research, transfer, and dissemination activities necessary to face this challenge.

CETINIA's activities revolve around a set of main lines of research:

  • Web Intelligence and Open Software Systems

  • Ethical and legal aspects of Artificial Intelligence

In the field of research, the specific objectives of CETINIA include the generation of new knowledge in the field of IIT, cooperation in the analysis of socioeconomic problems that require research, and collaboration in the training of research personnel. In order to take advantage of the results of the research carried out within CETINIA, and its potential impact on its socio-economic environment, the Centre applies IIT to problems in the socio-economic sector, provides consulting and technological services, and collaborate in the identification and protection of exploitable results. To disseminate the results of research and technology transfer, as well as to promote University Rey Juan Carlos in general, CETINIA focuses on presenting results in high-quality scientific and technical fora, enhancing its penetration in the socio-economic sector, promoting the presence in international committees and professional associations, and liaise with other R&D&I actors.
